Tamanu oil is obtained from the fruits of the tamanu tree, which is a tropical tree, forming a kind of hazelnut. The homeland of this tree species, which grows in Asia and Austria, is known as Polynesia. The fruits collected from the tamanu tree in the aforementioned geography are first separated from their seeds. The seeds are then left to dry in the sun for 1-2 months. The seeds that are dried enough are separated from their shells and pressed to obtain tamanu oil.
Tamanu oil is considered a natural antibiotic. In this respect, it is used as a supportive product in treatments.
